The Heritage Bee Company Ethos

The Heritage Bee Company makes beekeeping a possibility.  Through our Hive Hosting programs, we take care of all aspects of hive delivery, set-up, maintenance, and honey extraction for our clients, at our idyllic property (We Host) or yours (You Host).  Our clients include backyard gardeners, urban city dwellers, small-scale organic farmers, and countryside weekenders.  Key benefits include premium, raw, unpasteurized, hand processed honey directly from your beehive, personalized honey jar labels, pollination benefits and supporting your local environment and ecosystems. Plus knowing that you are making a world of difference for the bees.

our founders
We founded The Heritage Bee Company after years of longing to get into beekeeping, but never finding the right time nor the right location to place our hives. Shortly after purchasing a 31 acre rural property an hour north of Toronto, we discovered wild, feral honeybees living in the hollow of a white pine tree right behind our home. This discovery was the inspiration and catalyst for starting The Heritage Bee Co. to enable others to be involved in natural beekeeping.
When not submersed in the sweet world of bees and honey, we seriously enjoy travelling, mountain biking throughout Canada and the U.S, and attending music festivals in our 1976 VW Westfalia campervan suitably named, ‘Marigold’.

About Bee-ing a B Corporation

We founded The Heritage Bee Co., after working many years in large traditional industries. At the time we were taught to solely maximize shareholder value. Neither of us felt whole and complete, nor comfortable with this approach. We endeavoured to start a business that served a wider variety of constituents – the environment, the public,  our local community and the bees – just to name a few. The B Corporation certification provides us with an essential and ethical set of guidelines to grow our business that is in line with our values and beliefs, while serving a broader community.
